Temika’s Tales

Aloha! It’s Temika here :) Recently I just hit one year of working at Ukulele Hale and made it onto the Wall of Aloha! Time really does fly by when you’re having fun.

Before working at the Hale, I had many rejections for other job positions. I always had a feeling of discouragement when trying to find new opportunities. So the day of my interview at the Hale, I was super nervous! All of that changed as soon as that door opened. I was immediately welcomed with a warm and genuine smile. The atmosphere was so welcoming as I became more and more comfortable! Ever since then I never looked back. All the connections and memories I’ve made and will make, will stay with me forever.

Some people may ask me why I’ve been with Ukulele Hale for such a long time. Well, it’s because I get to see what happens behind the scenes of everything. The hard work and determination everyone puts in is so inspiring and I really want to continue showcasing that to the world.

From the start, I’ve learned so many lessons whether it be from a regular day at the Hale or performing at places such as Waikiki Shell itself, especially when it comes to Jody. Jody has been such a role model, mentor, friend, favorite uncle, and so much more for me. He’s the living definition of “Aloha” and taught me what it means to be confident and to be unapologetically myself.

I wholeheartedly mean it when I say that never thought I could gain and experience as much as I do working here. It’s truly a blessing and a known fact that I’m meant to be here.

Mahalo Nui Loa for everything <3
