Temika’s Tales

Aloha everyone!! It’s Temika again :) My first semester as a junior is coming to an end and I wanted to shine some light on how it’s been for me!

This school year I’ve become an RA (resident assistant) for the dorms here at Chaminade University. It’s been such an interesting ride these past few months but I’ve gained so many new skills! This position has had such a positive effect on helping me grow as a person and becoming a role model for those who need it.

This year I’ve also been building up a club I made last Spring with my friends called The Anime Connoisseur Club. Through this club I’ve met so many new people and reached goals I didn’t even know I had, all through watching anime! We’ve even gotten as far as making merch! I can’t wait to see what I and the team are able to do next year!

Speaking of teams, I feel like this semester I’ve definitely gotten closer with the staff here at Ukulele Hale. From making reels to doing full-on photoshoots, I’ve been having so much fun with them! It’s like we’ve known each other for years! The level of Aloha we share is something I’ll treasure forever. In the future, I’d love to have this type of connection with even more people from the Hale ‘ohana <3

On last thing I want to give myself a pat on the back for this semester is exploring and reclaiming my faith. Recently I staffed an Awakening Retreat with Chaminade’s Campus Ministry. It was a three-day retreat with no access to electronics. Yes, that meant not having my phone for THREE DAYS. As bad as it sounds, it helped me realize a lot of things about myself mentally and spiritually. I was even able to share my personal testimony and touch the hearts of others. That was truly an award-winning moment for me.

Overall I’ve had a hectic but mind-changing semester. I even had time to do my personal hobbies like dressing up for Halloween, trying new restaurants, dancing hula and Siva, putting together a play, facetiming my dogs, and so much more! Huh… I never realized how much I do…

Until next semester!
