Temika’s Tales

Hi everyone! Welcome back to another blog :) It’s been a while as I’ve been busy with traveling! This summer has been a great one, the perfect way to start off my senior year of college! I was blessed to have gotten to go to New York, the Philippines, and South Korea. As a solo traveler too!

In the Philippines I was able to go to Metro Manila, Cavite, Baguio, and Palawan! It was so much fun getting to see the amount of beautiful scenery! It was very humid in some areas, but as I headed North it was much more refreshing. My favorite part about traveling is observing the way different people from around the world live their lives. We all have different routines, styles, languages, etc. but at the same time we all share similar morals and values. I have much respect for the Filipino culture as I’ve danced traditionally in the past so it was cool seeing the things I’ve learned in person. Many people were so welcoming and left me with fun and adventurous stories to tell.

My time in Korea was a time well spent! Because I went in the July it was veryy rainy, but I made the most of it! Not only was the shopping really fun, but getting to take public transportation was great too! Being from New York it wasn’t too difficult to get around, but I did get lost a few times being sidetracked by all the small shops around the station. I was really proud of myself for getting past the language barrier and being able to get from point A to point B. If I were to go to Korea again I’d love to go to Jeju island!

I went back home to New York after a whole year! It was like I never left. I told myself that I wanted to do a lot of touristy stuff that New Yorkers don’t usually do, just because rarely go home. My favorite was trying a rainbow bagel from the shop “Liberty Bagels”. At first I was skeptical as I thought it would be super sweet, but it actually wasn’t! I loved not only how colorful it looked, but how soft and warm it was <3 They also sell savory bagels too! I had one called “Midtown” and it had all sorts of sauces, some chicken cutlet, and lots of other stuff. 10/10 I highly recommend and I will certainly be visiting again!

Overall I realized how much I adore traveling! It brings me so much joy and it’s a fun way to gain knowledge and learn new things! I get a lot of questions about how I solo travel so feel free to comment and I’ll answer them the best I can! I’m planning my next big trip for March 2025, can you guess where? Mahalo nui loa everyone for tuning in, and I’ll talk to you guys again soon!!
